I’d linked Lucifer about thirty minutes earlier to tell him I was on my way to his place, but he hadn’t responded. Regardless, I still made my way there. If he’d been unexpectedly called away, I’d just make use of the pool and wait for him to return.

There was no point knocking, since he’d given me a key, so I slid it into the lock and pushed the door open. Before I stepped through, I waved bye to Conrath, who gave me a bright smile as he sloped off into the shadows.

The place was quiet, and I immediately assumed Lucifer wasn’t there, but decided to check regardless. I stepped into the living area and noticed there were candles lit and a bottle of wine with two glasses placed on the coffee table. I continued to the kitchen, which was also deserted, as was the bedroom. I sighed when I realised Lucifer wasn’t there, and an empty feeling settled in my stomach.

I set my bag on one of the plush chairs, shrugged off my coat, and kicked off my sandals before heading to the bathroom. I figured I’d go for a swim and then just call or drop him a text after I’d finished. As I pushed through the door to the bathroom, my heart skipped a beat at the sight in front of me.

Perfection.

Lucifer was there, dripping wet and wearing nothing but a towel—which hung dangerously low on his hips. I stopped dead in my tracks and just stared at his mouth-watering body. I let my lustful gaze devour every inch of him as I bit my lip hard. I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed over my chest and just admired him from afar.

Fucking hell, how did I get so lucky?

And then he turned to face me, seemingly a little surprised to see me, but that was soon replaced by desire. I could see it written all over his face, from the darkening of his eyes to the quirk of his lips into a huge grin. “See something you like, Red?” he practically purred.

His voice was deep and gravelly, and everything about him in that second made me fall even more in love with him. My skin erupted in goosebumps, my nipples hardened, and I had to squeeze my legs shut to slow the wanton desire that coursed through my body.

I desperately tried to be calm and collected, but it was hard, so I simply replied, “Perhaps.” His grin now turned wicked as he stalked towards me—like a predator with its prey in its sights. My breath hitched and my lip was now growing painful from biting it.

Then he was on me, his lips crushed against mine in a desperate, all-consuming kiss. It had been two weeks since we’d spent any real time together, two weeks since he’d kissed me like this, and I melted into his arms.
